Title 29-A of the Maine Revised Statutes is adopted by reference, except as modified by this title.
Sworn peace officers, parking enforcement officers, and designated mobility officers may enforce this title and the Maine Motor Vehicle Code.
The Director of Transportation and Streets shall install traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings consistent with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Default speed limits are 25 mph on residential and downtown streets and 35 mph on arterials, except where otherwise posted.
Vehicles shall yield to pedestrians in all marked and unmarked crosswalks consistent with 29-A M.R.S. § 2056.
Commercial trucks over 26,000 pounds GVWR shall use designated truck routes posted on the Transportation map, except for direct local delivery.
Operators of fleets of dockless bicycles, e-bikes, or scooters in the City of AI shall hold an annual license, post performance bond, and comply with data sharing under the Open Mobility Data Specification.
Dockless devices shall be parked upright in marked corrals and shall not block sidewalk pedestrian clear zones, curb ramps, or transit stops.
Maximum assisted speed on city streets is 20 mph; helmets are required under 16 (see § 9.42).
Parking on city streets is subject to time limits and meters as posted. Residential parking permit zones are designated by Council resolution.
When the Mayor or City Manager declares a snow emergency, vehicles shall be moved off snow emergency routes; unmoved vehicles may be towed at owner's expense.
Vehicles displaying a current Maine disability placard or plate may park in marked accessible spaces and may exceed posted time limits at on-street meters by up to 2 hours.
Loading zones are marked by signs and white curb paint; use is limited to active loading and unloading for periods posted.
