Sidewalk vending requires a permit. Vendors shall maintain a 5-foot pedestrian clear zone, shall not block curb ramps or transit stops, and shall remove all equipment at end of vending day.
Materials, vehicles, or objects placed in the public right-of-way without permit are prohibited. The city may remove and store obstructions at owner's expense.
Sidewalk dining requires a permit specifying layout, hours, and accessibility. Tables and chairs shall not encroach the 5-foot pedestrian clear zone.
Newsracks in the right-of-way are limited to designated areas, must be securely anchored, and shall be maintained free of graffiti and damage.
Streets and sidewalks shall be constructed to city Standard Specifications, with curb ramps meeting ADA standards.
Construction or removal of curbs requires a right-of-way permit from Permit Central.
Excavation in the right-of-way requires a permit and conformance with the city's pavement restoration standards. Excavations open more than 24 hours require steel plating or barricades.
Streets paved within the prior 5 years are subject to a moratorium on new excavation except for emergencies or pre-approved work.
Parades, marches, and processions on city streets require a permit submitted at least 14 days in advance, except for spontaneous First Amendment activity.
Income-qualified homeowners may defer special assessments for street, sidewalk, or sewer improvements until sale or transfer of the property.
