Meet the Mayor
Mayor Aria Raman began her second term in January 2026. She represents City of AI's interests at the Maine State House, chairs the Civic Sandbox Advisory Board, and is responsible for the executive direction of all seventeen city departments.
Biography
Born in the North Tideline neighborhood, Mayor Raman earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine and an M.P.A. from Bowdoin's Schiller Institute. Before public service, she spent eleven years as a transit operations engineer for the Pemaquid Reach Mobility District and four years as Executive Director of the Heron Bay Resilience Trust. She was first elected to City Council representing District 2 in 2019 and was elected Mayor in 2022.

- Coastal flood resilience and stormwater modernization along Saltgrass Flats
- Housing abundance through inclusionary zoning and Granite Ridge transit-oriented development
- Workforce participation in the AI County technology corridor

Active executive directives are posted publicly. Recent directives include ED-2026-04 (Citywide Algorithmic Disclosure Standard) and ED-2026-07 (Mid-Year Tree Canopy Audit).

To request a 1:1 meeting with the Mayor or a member of her senior staff, residents may email mayor@cityofaime.com or call the office directly. The Mayor holds open community office hours the first Saturday of each month at the Hopper Library Community Room.
