Overview
Public Utilities operates and maintains three regulated services for the City of AI, Maine: water and sewer, electricity, and waste management. The department is funded entirely through user rates and bond financing — not the general fund — and is overseen by an independent Utility Rate Board.
Pay your bill
Residents and businesses receive a single combined utility bill. Online bill payment is handled by the Customer Service Bureau. Other payment methods include mail-in check, in-person at any of the four Civic Hall payment kiosks, automatic monthly debit, or by phone at (207) 555-3000.
Water and Sewer
The Pemaquid Reach Reservoir and Knuth Aquifer supply roughly 18 million gallons per day of drinking water to residents and businesses. The sewer system feeds the Liskov Riverwalk Treatment Plant, which handles tertiary treatment before discharge to the Gulf of Maine.
Annual water quality report
The most recent City of AI Water Quality Report is available on the Public Records and Data portal. Hardness, chloramine, and lead service line inventories are updated quarterly.
Report a leak or water emergency
Call (207) 555-3000 (24-hour dispatch) for visible street leaks, sewer backups, or pressure loss.
Electricity
City Light delivers power to 318,000 metered accounts across nine council districts, with peak summer load served from the Boole Solar Field and winter peaking from the Diffie Hydroelectric Station. The grid is monitored from the Operations Center on Beacon Loop.
Report an outage
Use the Outage Reporting Form on Network Outages or call (207) 555-3000. Crews are dispatched 24 hours. Please report downed lines first — never approach.
Rebates
Heat-pump and induction-cooktop rebates are processed at Compute Credit Enrollment.
